Good Shooting Guide

La Plaisanterie

by Straight to Video Productions

When married life for this French couple becomes sour, the man must decide between his wife and his best friend.

This was the first film we made as the group Straight to Video Productions. It was entered into the 2004 Depict! short film festival but wasn’t shortlisted. The camera was a simple camcorder belonging to one of the group. The writer played the male role and the female was played by a friend of the group who worked for nothing.

It was all set in the writer’s mother’s house. The only costs for the film were the hire of a set of lights and a few props.

The film was great fun to make and it taught us that a film can be made for next to no money, simply by asking around people you know and borrowing their equipment and talents.
