Cinéformation is committed to developing and sustaining a creative, active filmmaking community in the South West by providing opportunities for filmmakers and enthusiasts to meet at Watershed, where they can show work, exchange ideas and collaborate.

Sep 2003 - present

Cinéformation was founded in 2003 by a small, dedicated group of Bristol-based filmmakers and enthusiasts who were passionate about exchanging knowledge and promoting collaboration in and around the South West.

Since then Cinéformation has retained these founding values and grown to become a free monthly event at Watershed where everyone – writers, producers, directors, actors, crew and fans – can meet, share ideas, screen films and foster a creative climate of filmmaking and ideas generation across the region.

Each session can take the shape of a number of formats – be it interviews, workshops, forums, masterclasses, networking events or less formal get togethers. The monthly topics have included spotlights on animation, cinematography, storyboarding, title sequences, wardrobe, make-up and screenwriting to discussions on poetry in film, female filmmakers, locations and practical advice on how to pitch your script.

New members are always welcome and you can pick and choose which Cinéformation events are most useful for you. It’s free, so just pick up a ticket from Watershed’s Box Office on the day and see what you could learn.
