PROGRAMME

Liz Milner, Animate + Creative Producer and Coordinator explains the project:

Animate + is a six-month learning programme that took place between January and July 2004, at Watershed Bristol, for young people aged 16 to 19 who were not in education, training or full time work. A total of twelve participants were enrolled on the course, and these were split into two groups of six. Each group began working two half days a week, rising to three half days for the final two months. The course was an experimental pilot project, devised for Education Unlimited; a Learning and Skills Council initiative. Young people were recruited and supported throughout the course by Connexions West of England, who allocated each young person a “buddy”. By the end of the course nine young people remained, gaining qualifications in digital animation, digital video, web design, and image manipulation. Watershed plans to continue providing this type of learning with new participants in the future.
