'Faustus and Mephistophilis, rehearsal sketch' by Carol Chilcott

"His companion, his master, his servant." Mephistophilis stands behind Faustus, controlling him. Carol has drawn Chris and Steve in their positions for this, a recurring bit of the play, repeated at least four times throughout. This looks like the Monks scene, but in this drawing, Carol has put more importance on showing the relationship between Mephistophilis and Faustus. Also she has positioned them well, Faustus stands in the centre of a specially drawn shape, pre-empting the cross shape that we introduced in the play later for positioning of the revolve and actors, in particular Steve and Chris, Faustus and Mephistophilis.
