About Marlowe Synopsis Theme Art Text
Investigate the play
‘We started looking at making a new play early in 2003. We had written two of our own plays "Lying Doctors’ and "Sharing the Stars’ and we wanted to return to doing a play that someone else had written.
We chose Faustus because it is a very strong story. It has lots of opportunities for us to try out different ideas on stage.

Faustus’s study by Carol Chilcott
We have made the story easier to understand by editing it, putting our power into it, our imagination, and our sheer hard work. In the play are our ideas and understandings of power, belief, knowledge, learning, good, evil, fear and temptation.
We have put all our understandings of being a human being into this play.’

Knowledge and wisdom, video clip
