sessions 9,10 & 11: creating a video jacket
1. With pupils look at a number of video jackets and discuss common features. Discuss the differences between jackets for different genres of film – eg how is a jacket for a horror film different from one for a romantic comedy?
2. Imagine creating a video jacket for ‘The Wrong Flowers’; identify a film still and a quotation from the poem that you might use. In pairs, share ideas about what kind of film this is and what impression you want to give to those who hire it.
3. On a projector, or online, show the video jacket produced for The Wrong Flowers and model an analysis of it, focusing on images, colour, quotations, copy.
4. Pupils design and create their own video jacket for The Wrong Flowers and annotate their jackets once mounted, explaining the choices that they have made.
