'Writing to a stone' by Cherry Orchards

Dear Stone,

I am so impressed by your deep purple colour, it is so beautiful. How do you manage to keep it like that? And what about all the glitter on all the little surfaces all over you - I would like to know where you came from?

Sometimes I imagine you came from the moon, from deep inside the moon. You make me feel very still - but I feel if I were to look at you too long I wouldn't be able to move again. I like to feel the weight of you when I hold you in my hand. I also like the coolness and roughness on my skin.

- Your Friend, Karin

Dear Karin,

It was nice to hear from you. I never knew that you thought so highly of me. They always say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I shine for you to give you the inspiration you long for.

My deep purple colour is constant to remind you of the unchanging in all of us. Something deep inside that makes us who we are. I do not want to tell you where I came from because part of my value is the mystery of my origin.

Because of this I can feel you imagination enliven you. Sometimes maybe I do come from the moon, sometimes from the stars sometimes from the earth.

Thank you again for writing to me, and I look forward to spending time with you in the future, because you fascinate me as much as I fascinate you.

With sincerity,

Karin and Clare
