Big Lottery

Big Lottery Fund is a new organisation that will hand out half the money for good causes from the National Lottery. We will make it easier to apply for Lottery money and will make it easier for you to see where the money goes. The Big Lottery Fund was created by merging the New Opportunities Fund and the Community Fund.

Enrich UK

Browse and search all 150 sites created through the NOF digitisation programme. EnrichUK brings together sites representing diverse culture, history, social and economic development, science and art, as well as regional and national ‘sense of place’ from England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Museums, Libraries and Archives Council

The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) was launched in 2000 as the national development agency working for and on behalf of museums, libraries and archives and advising government on policy and priorities for the sector. The MLA’s roles are to provide strategic leadership, to act as a powerful advocate, to develop capacity and to promote innovation and change.

National Grid for Learning

The National Grid for Learning is the gateway to educational resources on the Internet. The NGfL provides selected links to web sites that offer high quality content and information, including materials made available through the NOF digitisation programme. Whether you are learning, or teaching, there are resources on the NGfL for you.

New Opportunities Fund

The NOF web site provides information about the Big Lottery, and links with the new Big Lottery site. There is information about how to apply for funding, details of grants in each region, frequently asked questions on each programme, up to date information on activities, details of exhibitions and events and a range of publications to download.

NOF-digitise Technical Advisory Service

This site provided the technical support required by grant recipients to comply with the technical standards set by NOF. Although the site is now in an “archived” state, full details of the technical standards plus a comprehensive programme manual can still be found. A useful resource for anyone wanting to manage digital archives.

The People’s Network

The lottery funded People’s Network provides access to the internet from all public libraries across England. With further support from the Big Lottery Fund, MLA is now developing online services for the People’s Network. The first of these services, allows you to have your enquiries answered by library staff just as if you spoke to a member of staff in your local library. It is currently being piloted before its launch to the public in Spring 2005.
