Come Closer: Online Version (Jan 05)

Come Closer

squidsoup’s Come Closer is an online version of an installation piece created in 2004 as part of the Clark Digital Bursary. The work is an infinite space that aims simultaneously to be an immersive experience and to highlight the limitations of that experience. The 3D effect (when wearing 3D specs) creates a sense of depth and space that tries to envelop the viewer. By moving around the space, physically in the installation and virtually using your mouse in the online version, visitors trigger the sounds held in the dandelion seeds as they leave the edge of screen. The pitch of each sound is determined by its height as it leaves the viewable area.
