About Step Online

Step Online is an online gallery designed to showcase UK based Asian art/artists new to exhibiting on the web. In April 2007 visual artists across the UK using digital media were invited to submit their work. The project was initiated by Bristol-based Asian Arts Agency in partnership with Watershed Media Centre, to mark 2007 as the 60th anniversary of India’s Independence.

The opportunity was open to emerging and established visual artists working in a variety of media who are new or beginning to explore exhibition online and aims to:

Promote UK-based Asian arts/artists

Reach new audiences

Explore potential of online in creative practice

Facilitate an online community and potential networks for creative collaboration

In this first call for works, four artists were selected including short film, animation, photography and digitally manipulated images. The Step Online project will showcase a series of selected works and curated themes, if you would like to be informed of further opportunities to get involved vist the contact section of this site.
