Alan Jones
Alan has been campaigning to have the word ART banned from use within the English language for his entire adult life. So far he has little success but continues the struggle. The difficulty lies in replacing the word with an equally useable and meaningless alternative. The word NICE of-course is suitabley unavailing, however it does not seem to be able to fully express the banal nature of the subject. For example the term 'Live ArtÕ is often used to describe 'Maladroit Dance', 'Hokum ComedyÕ and 'Fatuous TheatreÕ, misguiding the unwary and drawing them into events that prove inexpedient to attend.
Perhaps the best course of action then is to borrow a word from another language to fill the void. Alan Suggests using the word Kunst that is already widely used around Europe. The Danish, Norwegian, Dutch and Estonian languages already use the word, as do the Germans in the form Die Kunst. So if this were adopted for example 'Live ArtÕ would naturally become 'DIE LIVE KUNSTÕ. A far more descriptive and appropriate term I think all would agree.
