news archiveThe Dream Director first public test... (posted July 07)Sat 21 July saw 20 participants test out The Dream Director at Arnolfini Bristol. Following presentations by artist Luke Jerram, Sleep Psychologist Chris Alford and Composer Dan Jones, the audience stepped into their sleep pods for a night of sounds played whilst they dreamed. Nii Obodai presentation at Peirian Centre Bristol (posted 9 May 07)Nii Obodai, recipient of the Clark Bursary - 7th UK Digital Art Award will be presenting and discussing his work at a special 'Speak Easy' event at the Pierian Centre, Bristol. The event takes place on Fri 11 May at 1930hrs. Read the press release here. squidsoup work on show in Bournemouth (posted 1 Feb 07)Previous recipients squidsoup who created two works through the Clark Bursary, Come Closer and Ghosts, will be exhibiting both pieces at The Arts Institute in Bournemouth from 2nd April until the 11th May. Artist Luke Jerram currently exhibiting at Sydney Festival (posted 8 Jan 07)As a result of his previous project - The Sky Orchestra, Luke is currently presenting the work at Sydney Festival. The Sky Orchestra kicks off the festival with seven hot air balloons, each with speakers attached, taking off at sunrise to fly across the West of the city creating a sky borne symphony. The performance was created by Luke Jerram with composer Dan Jones who is also collaborating with Luke on The Dream Director for the Clark Bursary. Watch Luke's video blog on YouTube. Luke Jerram to present at forthcoming symposium (posted 26 Oct 06)Recipient of the 6th Clark Bursary, Luke Jerram is due to make a presentation at a forthcoming symposium - ‘Transdisciplinary Landscapes: Dialogues Between Art and Science'. The symposium, taking place at Bristol School of Art, Media and Design on Fri 4 and Sat 5 Nov, will bring together practitioners and researchers in the fields of arts, sciences and philosophy to share perspectives on the ‘debatable lands’ between science and art, and to consider the contested territory of creativity, imagination and invention. For further information and to register, visit: www.projectdialogue.uwe.ac.uk/dialogue1.htm Previous Bursary project presented at 12th International Conference on Virtual Systems and Multimedia in China (posted 26 Oct 06)Anthony Rowe (squidsoup) who created the interactive installation Come Closer during the 5th Clark Bursary, recently presented a paper on the piece at the VSMM conference in China. Anthony wrote and presented the paper with Cliff Randall from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol, Cliff worked with squidsoup during the Bursary and was a key part of the development of Come Closer. Luke Jerram announced as recipient of the Clark Bursary - 6th UK Digital Art Award (posted Oct 06)Watershed and partners including Situations at the University of the West of England, are pleased to announce the recipient of this year’s award of £17,500 as Luke Jerram. The award is the largest to date and will enable Luke to develop his career and proposed idea/s through a supported residency at Watershed. Read the full press release here
